The role of the governing board is a strategic one with three key functions:
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
- Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
The full governing body meets at least 3 times per year. Our committee meetings are where the main work of the governing body is carried out.
Curriculum – The Curriculum Committee has responsibility for monitoring the school’s performance, ensuring that every pupil is supported by the school to reach their full potential.
Resources – The Resources Committee is responsible for overseeing the school budget and anything related to the budget (e.g. building, maintenance, health & safety and staffing).
Children, Families and Community – The Children, Families and Community Committee has responsibility for building stronger relationships with stakeholders, parents and pupils and the local and wider community.

In addition to the committees, each governor has a link role for a specific area of the school. Link governors are responsible for reviewing their specific areas of the school’s work and reporting back to the committees or full Local Governing Body.
