Pupils at Falconbrook Primary School in Battersea celebrated the official opening of their newly refurbished school dining room on Monday 11 September with a visit from Levi Roots.
Levi Roots, who has strong links to the Battersea area, was welcomed by the school’s steel pan band and, after cutting the ribbon, he sat down to chat with some of the pupils to talk about the importance of healthy eating, amongst other things. He said “It was an honour to officially open the Falconbrook Dining Hall, a bright and welcoming space for the children to share not only their lunch but their stories too. Congratulations to all involved, you’ve done a great job. Special thanks to the steel pan band.”
The modernisation of the dining room was achieved thanks to the award of a £10,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund and will give pupils a chance to share meals in a bright and friendly environment.
Head Teacher, Stella Smith, said “Thank you to Levi Roots for making the official opening of the school dining hall such a fantastic occasion, the children thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you also to the Big Lottery Fund for their grant of £10,000 which made the renovations all possible. The children now benefit from a truly special place to enjoy their lunch.”
